Al Dhabi Stables boasts an extremely successful and committed children’s pony racing team which is consistently placed in the top five/ten during each race meet.
The team trains throughout the winter months (from November through to March) on the home-bred Al Dhabi racing ponies ranging from 98cm to 142cm.
To join the team children are required to be between seven and fourteen-years-old and able to ride walk through to canter confidently and off the lead-rein. Children who successfully make the team will be expected to train between three and 6 days per week (depending on the schedule).
The racing team is an opportunity to learn not just about effective race riding, but also improving fitness, balance and coordination, plus developing an understanding of horse and rider biomechanics and horse care, including heart rate monitoring.
Children accepted onto the team will receive intensive fitness and riding training. Acceptance to the multi-nationality team means children will then have the opportunity to be selected based on skill, commitment and riding ability to participate in the two annual prestigious Dubai race meets: The Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Pony Club Cup (January) and the Crown Prince Pony Club Cup (March).
